University Preparation Programme (UPP)
A one-year accessibility programme helps students from historically disadvantaged communities to gain access to higher education in especially three fields of study: Economic and Management Sciences, the Humanities, and Natural and Agricultural Sciences. After successful completion of the bridging year, students continue their studies at the Bloemfontein Campus of the UFS.

The UPP represents a bridging year and takes place in Bloemfontein (South Campus) and five sub-regions, i.e. Sasolburg, Bethlehem, Welkom, Kimberley and Oudtshoorn.

Academic support
The UPP also contributes to students’ development through a course in Skills and Competencies for Lifelong Learning, an Academic Literacy course in English or Afrikaans, and a Computer Literacy course.
