University of The Free State School of Open Learning, Through the School for Open Learning, the University of the Free State will harness a wide range of open-learning principles and methods to broaden access by means of distance education (blended learning) and continuing education to deserving students who are unable to study at the university through traditional, full-time, on-campus higher-education programmes.

Given this vision, its mission is to:
